Introduction
uTalk is a great company in England which has focused in part on producing language learning games for endangered languages like Hawaiian since the mid-1990s. I have worked with them since 2002 when I first recorded several Hawaiian language computer games for children on CD-ROMs – remember those?
We spent seven years producing this new "uTalk Hawaiian" release, from planning the project in 2015, to the translation of thousands of words and phrases, to being delayed by the Covid epidemic, and finally to recording at “Hale Panino”, ʻŌlelo Online’s recording studio right here in Puna, Hawaiʻi, in April and May 2022.
